Salsa

L.A. Salsa

L.A. Salsa is inspired by West Coast Swing, Latin ballroom dances and the soft Puerto Rican style. It is based on starting the dance on the first beat of the music. Its major characteristic is to dance using "Cross Body Lead" with front and back steps, that is, to dance on a single line. Its flashy and acrobatic moves are mostly taken from Swing.

Albert Torres, Laura Canellias, Joe Cassini, Francisco and Luis Vazquez, Rogelio Moreno are the people who have made L.A. style Salsa improve and spread.

Cuban Salsa

In the Cuban style, also called Casino, we can say that simply the music determines the dancing style. Contemporary Cuban music emphasizes the first and third beats of the rhythm compared to the second beat. Modern fast rhythms are turning Salsa into a more solo dance. In cases where the percussion instruments are more dominant, the female dancer can draw more attention with flashy and rhythmic body movements. The Cuban style is danced circular rather than linear.

What gives the dance its essence is to understand the rich Afro-Cuban dance repertoire and to apply it improvised.

Rueda de Casino

In Spanish, rueda means wheel. This dance, also called la rueda for short, is the application of the Casino -that is, Cuban- style moves in a circle. Most moves are executed by changing partners and on command when the leader announces the name of the move.
